The Recording Association of America has declared Metallica’s Hardwired… To Self-Destruct, platinum. For an album to go platinum, it must have the sales equivalent of one million albums (album sales, and individuals tracks purchased from services like iTunes and Amazon).
The album itself sold 291,000 copies during the first week. Surprisingly enough, Hardwired still didn’t sell near what Death Magnetic (490k), or St. Anger (418k) did during their debuts. Catch Metallica out on tour this summer!
